Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, known for his dark movies, directed Bombay Velvet with Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead, and failed miserably at the box-office. Vikas Bahl, too, who gave the heartwarming Queen with Kangana Ranaut, bit the dust with Shaandaar. Now, the twosome is set to unite for a remake of a French film La Famille Belier and fans of the classic French film are very excited for this reunion

The 2014 French social comedy-drama La Famille Belier, directed by Eric Lartigau, tells the story of a gifted teenage girl Paula Belier, who is the voice of her deaf-mute parents. She helps run her hearing and speech-impaired family's dairy business and does not realize she is a gifted singer until she is teamed with a classmate, Gabriel, for a choir practice. Paula, initially hesitant and having some awkward experiences, later gets along well with Gabriel. It is once when the choir director taps Paula's hidden singing talent, that she realizes her true worth and starts dreaming big, planning to make a career in music, much to her family's resentment. The rest of the story follows her journey to achieve her dreams.

With quirky characters and comic situations, La Famille Belier had won critical and commercial praises across the globe upon its release.

According to Bollywood Hungama, Kashyap and Bahl, who were also mighty impressed with the plot and screenplay of the French film, are all set to bring it to the Indian audiences. The directors, experts in their own fields, are currently scripting the remake to suit the Indian sensibilities.

Bahl said according to him, La Famille Belier is a story about love and compassion for one's family. The acclaimed director was quoted by Variety as responding:

"It is a beautiful story that will resonate with Indian sensibilities and culture, and we want to develop it in multiple languages so that we reach out to as big an audience as possible."

They are preparing to release the endearing movie in multiple Indian languages, under Reliance Entertainment and Phantom Film's collaborative banner. They are working on the pre-production stage of the film and are keeping no stone unturned to spread the tale of love and compassion far and wide.
