According to a lawsuit filed by the Republican fundraising organization American Action Network, Lady Gaga turned down a $1 million offer to perform on the opening day of the Republican National Convention.

The lucrative offer and subsequent snub by Gaga came to light as part of the documents contained in a lawsuit filed by AAN against concert promoter Cater America, LLC. The suit is asking for $350,000 that AAN officials claim to have lost when Lynyrd Skynyrd cancelled their RNC concert.

According to the documents, Dolly Parton and Pitbull also refused offers to perform at the convention, though Gaga's offer was by far the largest.

In e-mails contained in the document, AAN's director Pete Meachum made several attempts to sweeten the pot for the pop diva.

"See what it would take to get Gaga instead of Dolly," Meachum wrote to Rob Jennings, to head of Cater America.

Meachum went on to write that Jennings should tell Gaga her performance would be at an event "honoring women who run for public office" and that "$150,000 will go towards a domestic violence shelter."

Gaga declined, of course, opting instead to hold a private concert for President Barack Obama. Kid Rock and Journey ended up playing the RNC.

"We considered some acts and didn't seriously consider others, but we were ultimately happy with a great Kid Rock concert," AAN said in response to the report.

The Republican National Committee says that it "neither asked, offered, thought of or ever considered the idea of Lady Gaga performing at our convention."

According to data gleaned from StumbleUpon, Romney supporters actually love Lady Gaga, while Obama supporters gravitate toward Britney Spears.
