'Mary Poppins' Tribute: Dick Van Dyke Honors Julie Andrews Classic "Step In Time" On 'DWTS'

Although it's been over five decades since Walt Disney's Mary Poppins came out, its two main stars, Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, are still alive and kicking, quite literally in the case of the latter. Earlier this week, Dancing with the Stars paid homage to the classic 1964 in a beautiful tribute to the rhythm of "Step in Time," and "Bert" was there -- and he still has the moves!

Last Sunday, ABC, which is owned by Disney, hosted a big night to celebrate 60 years of the first-ever amusement park from the company, The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60. As part of the celebrations, DWTS host Derek Hough led the performance of the iconic song, but there was a surprise in store: Van Dyke popped in to do some dancing alongside the chimneysweepers!

Although Van Dyke's appearance was short (the beloved actor is 90 years old after all), he still danced to the tune of "Step in Time" just as he did 52 years ago, making the studio audience go insane.

According to The Huffington Post, the star of the '60s Dick Van Dyke Show isn't letting something petty as age get in the way of being amazing. Last December, when he turned 90, he kicked off celebrations for reaching nine decades of life watching a flash mob pay homage to his career, performing a montage of some of the best songs from Mary Poppins.

Currently, there is talk of a new Mary Poppins film, though it appears it won't be a remake, but rather a sequel, adapting one of P.L. Travers' books about the flying nanny. So far, the movie is very early in production, with no screenplay nor cast just yet -- but rumor has it that British actress Emily Blunt will tackle the role that made Andrews an Oscar winner.

Blunt is no stranger to musicals, having starred in 2014's Disney adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods.
