While Bryan Cranston's portrayal of chemistry teacher turned evil Walter White was the center of Breaking Bad, right behind him was Aaron Paul's performance as Jesse Pinkman, the endlessly frustrating drug addict and semi-professional mess. Now, as spin-off Better Call Saul is in its second season, creator Vince Gilligan has revealed there's a chance of a Jesse series, too.

Gilligan, who created both Breaking Bad and the Saul Goodman-themed spin-off, recently spoke to Radio Times about whether another character from the original show could get its own series. Saying he could "absolutely see" a series revolving around Jesse or even Walter's nemesis, Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito), he also revealed he'd be wary of a second spin-off.

"I have a hard time picturing us actually doing that, not because the characters couldn't carry their own shows, they absolutely could in my opinion," Gilligan said. "Just because at a certain point, I fear it would begin to smack of...we're chewing our cud twice, we're going to the well a bit too much."

Three shows set in the same universe does seem a little extreme for something that doesn't involve any superheroes, but it would stop sounding interesting if only Gilligan didn't consistently make such great shows. But it seems we'll just have to keep on dreaming until perhaps a 10-years-later sequel where Jesse has found peace in his wood workshop.

For the five seasons Breaking Bad lasted, Paul's Jesse was a constant cause of concern to everybody who watched it as well as the characters in this alternate Albuquerque, as everyone was leary of his outbursts of misplace emotion, his constant willingness and his attempts to sabotage his life and happiness.

By the time the story ended, Jesse had probably taken the worst of the cast, as he was taken by a neo-Nazi gang and forced to make meth for them until Walter ultimately saves him, and it's unclear what he did with his life after that.

Currently, Gilligan is working on Better Call Saul, a prequel to the series starring Bob Odenkirk and Jonathan Banks reprising their roles of Saul Goodman and Mike Ehrmantraut on an origin story.

Better Call Saul airs on AMC on Mondays.
