'DWTS' Winner Derek Hough Headed to Broadway in 'Singin' In The Rain'

Get ready Broadway because Dancing With the Stars pro Derek Hough is ready to make things a little rainy for you. The dancer is reportedly going to be starring in the musical Singin' in the Rain when it hits the Great White Way next year. While we know that he has the dancing talent to take Broadway by storm, no pun intended, many might wonder if he has the singing talent to take on such an iconic play.

However, it looks like the star definitely takes after his sister Julianne Hough, in his all around musical theatre background. Not only did Julianne steal the show in FOX's production of Grease Live early this year, but it looks like Derek will be doing the same thing when the Gene Kelly musical will be opening next year.

And to further abate any fears that Hough might not have the singing chops to pull this off, entertainment reporter Marc Malkin took to his Facebook account to post a video of Hough tap dancing and singing his heart out to the title song from the musical.

According to E! News, it was Hough's rendition of the song in the Weinstein's New York Spring Spectacular last year at Radio City Music Hall that actually got people talking about a possible revival of the hit musical with Hough at the helm.

ABC News is reporting that the announcement was made by musical producer Harvey Weinstein at the Weintsein Company's pre-Oscar party this year. The company hosts the party every year, but this year Hough took to the stage following the announcement, to give the partygoers a little taste of what he will be doing on Broadway next January.

Some of the patrons that got to witness Hough's take on the iconic Singin' in the Rain songs included Jared Leto, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Matthew Morrison, Nick Jonas, Bryan Cranston, Naomi Campbell, Ashley Tisdale and Colin Firth.
