The 88th Academy Awards will probably go down as the most controversial in the award show's history.  The #OscarsSoWhite issue was tackled head on by host Chris Rock in both his opening and throughout the show.  Of course along the way we saw Spotlight win for Best Picture and Mad Max: Fury Road win for almost everything else.  

We also saw Alicia Vikander win for Best Supporting Actress for The Danish Girl, Brie Larson win for Best Actress for Room, Mark Rylance win Best Supporting Actor (in what some are calling an upset) for Bridge of Spies and of course Leonardo DiCaprio win Best Actor for The Revenant

There were many great highlights which included memorable quotes.  Here are a list of the top 7 you heard followed by a possible list of the top 7 you didn't hear.     

Top 7 Quotes You Heard

7) "Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna's panties, I wasn't invited."

Chris Rock's opening monologue addressing Jada Pinkett Smith's boycott of this year's lack of diversity.

6) "The winners of this category, all they have is this Oscar and they're going home in a civic."

While presenting the Oscar for Best Documentary Short, Louis CK discusses the financial differences between the winners of that category and winners of other categories. 

5) "The in memoriam montage is just going to be black people who were shot by the cops on the way to the movies."

Probably the most controversial comment of Rock's monologue was a reference to racism.

4) "A black girl would have to invent the cure for cancer before they even gave her a TV movie."

Whoopie Goldberg's jab as the #OscarsSoWhite issue included this joke on the film Joy which is a bio-pic of Miracle Mop creator Joy Mangano.

 

3) "Don't vote for candidtates that take money from big banks, oil or weirdo billionaires."

Oscar winner for Best Adapted Screenplay Adam McKay's comment was considered a subtle diss of Hillary Clinton.

2) "Rocky takes place in a world where white athletes are as good as black athletes, so Rocky is a science-fiction movie."

Chris Rock's comment toward Sylvester Stallone on the believability of Creed.

1) "And the Oscar Goes to...Leonardo DiCaprio."

Julianne Moore uttered probably the most predicted, yet awaited quote of the night.  Sixth time was a charm for Leo who finally won the Golden Boy.  His speech combined heartfelt thanks and a message for climate change.
