It's too good to be true, but a knife has been discovered at OJ Simpson's Rockingham estate at the same time the world is wathcing the hit FX series, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

According to the LA Times, the knife that was found years ago by a construction worker who was helping to destroy Simpson's mansion on Rockingham Avenue is currently being tested by the LAPD.

A retired police officer finally gave up what could be the murder weapon that was used to kill Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman on June 12, 1994. The officer who had the knife was apparently retiring and revealed the new evidence to the robbery-homicide detectives in recent months.

Brown and Goldman were stabbed outside of her Brentwood condominium. Days after Brown's death, Simpson would lead police in a slow-speed chase in his white Bronco while holding a gun to his head. The suicide attempt and chase would become one of the largest televised moments in history.

His bronco chase on June 17, 1994 would stop major televised sport activities that day, including the U.S. Open World Cup opening in Chicago and the NBA finals. Knicks were playing Game 5 of the finals against the Houston Rockets.

Capt. Andy Neiman revealed that the former officer was a traffic officer and was working on a movie set when the construction worker came him the knife.

Neiman is clueless to why the officer waited so long to turn the knife into authorities.

"I don't know why that didn't happen or if that's entirely accurate or if this whole story is possibly bogus from the get-go," he told reporters.

What a coincidence, right?!

Twenty years later, Simpson's case is still open. Simpson, a former football legend, was acquitted for his ex-wife’s murder in 1995. Officials can still investigate, but Simpson can't be prosecuted again. The 68-year-old is currently sitting behind prison walls for 33 years after being found guilty in a robbery and kidnapping case in Nevada.
