In 1998, with the first wave of supernatural television shows including Joss Whedon's Buffy, veteran TV producer Aaron Spelling took his chance with a series about three San Francisco witches, the Halliwells, who used their Wicca powers to protect innocents in San Francisco. A decade after Charmed ended, there's talk of a reboot -- and Phoebe herself, Alyssa Milano, is clearing the air on Twitter.

Per Milano's words, it seems the Halliwell sisters will be returning to television some time in the future, but it's bittersweet news: they won't be played by its four cast members, but it will rather be a reboot not involving the original witches.

"Nothing has been confirmed. CBS is developing a reboot without the original cast. That's all I know for sure," Milano wrote on social media, in a series of tweets regarding the subject. "I would imagine until CBS makes a decision on their reboot a true reunion type of show will not be happening due to CBS owning the rights," she added, breaking the hearts of millions around the world.

Originally starring Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs and Milano, the show revolved around the three Halliwell sisters, Prue, Piper and Phoebe, who realized they'd inherited amazing magical powers from the women in their family. After Doherty left the show on season 3, Rose McGowan joined in as lost sister Paige Matthews, whose powers were similar to those of the sister she never met.

The series ran for eight seasons, from 1998 to 2006, and also featured co-starring roles of actors who would go on to become stars on their own, including Julian McMahon and even Kaley Cuoco.

With the current wave of reboots and revivals of shows from the past two decades (such as Netflix shows Fuller House and Gilmore Girls: Seasons), it comes at no surprise that there's a possibility of a Charmed reboot as well. Hopefully, the original cast will at least make cameos in the new project -- in fact, Milano has already told Entertainment Tonight that they're all on board for a comeback!
