Beyonce and Jay-Z Cuba Backlash [VIDEO]: Cuban-American Citizen's Say 5th Wedding Anniversary Vacation To Cuba Was "Insensitive"

American Royalty, Jay-Z and Beyoncé Carter are victims of scrutiny for their recent fifth wedding anniversary trip to Cuba.  Republican lawmakers blasted the superstar couple stating that they lacked the proper license to visit Cuba and questioned if Jay and Queen B were "tourists" in Cuba, which goes against U.S. policy. 

Two Republican members of Congress, issued a letter to the U.S. Treasury Department to ask for information on what type of license the two had for the high-profile trip, USA reported.

According to USA Today, In a letter dated on Friday, reports Reuters, U.S. Representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart, asked Adam Szubin, director of the Office of Foreign Assets Control, for "information regarding the type of license that Beyoncé and Jay-Z received, for what purpose, and who approved such travel."

"Despite the clear prohibition against tourism in Cuba, numerous press reports described the couple's trip as tourism, and the Castro regime touted it as such in its propaganda," the letter said. "We represent a community of many who have been deeply and personally harmed by the Castro regime's atrocities, including former political prisoners and the families of murdered innocents."

Key points in the letter are founded on the trade embargo imposed by the US government that has lasted substantially longer than the Bey-Jay marriage. Ten times as long in fact, being now in its 53nd year, according to The Guardian UK.

The embargo technically prohibits all US tourism to the island.

Cuban-American advocates have also chimed in on the matter. According to The Guardian UK an anti-Castro lobby group Cuba Democracy Advocates, based in Washington, accused the Jay-Z and Beyoncé of being "extremely insensitive". "There are women getting beaten on a daily basis, people are fighting for their freedom," the group's director Mauricio Claver-Carone told celebrity news website TMZ.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z's relationship with President Obama and the First Lady has also come into question. Jay-Z was an opening act for the president at several of his campaign election last year, and Beyoncé famously lip-synched the national anthem at his second inauguration.

The Carters have yet to respond to the media and or the letter from Congress.   This is not the first time Bey was under fire meddling in political waters.  Beyoncé was also ridiculed for performing for former Libyan President, Qaddafi's son in 2009.
