Marvel fans are undoubtedly looking forward to Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) face off in Captain America: Civil War, but the film will also introduce the wildly popular Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman. However, Boseman is quick to claim that T'Challa is completely different from the Avengers!

Boseman was recently featured in the IGN Civil War set report, where he revealed what sets Black Panther apart from other Marvel Cinematic Universe characters.

"I think the difference in him is that he's a ruler of a country. That's the difference," Boseman said before explaining that the people of Wakanda see T'Challa as a completely different figure.

"I wouldn't even call him a superhero," he said of Black Panther. "In the mythology of the country, he's not a superhero. He's a warrior, and it's part of their tradition."

There is a good reason why Boseman seems so knowledgeable about his character. The actor admitted that he did some extensive "research" on Black Panther.

"I think what you try to do is just get your hands on every single comic book you can find that has the character in it, or him being mentioned or anything," he revealed, adding that he treated the research more like a hobby so he can enjoy discovering Black Panther the way comic book fans did.

"I've just tried to read them all, not like it's really work. It is work -- don't get me wrong -- it is work, but it's just sort of reading them like a kid, you know? Because when you just read it like it's work, you're just trying to get through it," Boseman said. "So I think it's putting yourself in that mind frame to go through the mythology in a fun way."

The comic book experience wasn't the only thing Boseman went through to understand Black Panther. He also confirmed that he traveled to get into his character's mindset.

"I've gone to South Africa, gone to some places, to see some things that I think relate to the character, and let those things sort of fuel your workouts, fuel your sessions when you work on the part," Boseman said.

Boseman's T'Challa will debut in Captain America: Civil War on May 6 before starring in his own Black Panther film, which is scheduled for release on July 6, 2018.
