Fifteen years after the original nine episodes aired, Amazon Studios is making a pilot reboot of The Tick -- though, unfortunately, not starring Patrick Warburton as the superhero parody character.

The Tick is one of those short-lived Fox series that has found a loyal fanbase in the years since it aired as the show, created by Ben Edlund, has remained in the hearts of comic book fans.

Deadline was the first to report the upcoming reboot, as Amazon Studios has teamed up with original comic book/live-action series creator Edlund to revive the character for a new take. Besides being the second live-action attempt at the character, Edlund was also the person responsible for bringing the 1994 Tick animated series to life.

Edlund (who these days serves as a co-executive producer for Gotham) will be writing as well as executive-producing the show, accompanied by Bones producer Barry Josephson, who held the same job in the 2001 Tick.

Warburton, who played the character in the 2001 series and currently stars on NBC's comedy series Crowded, will not be reprising the role, though he'll still be heavily involved in the project as executive producer. For now, Amazon is looking for the perfect actor to give life to the superhero.

While the title superhero hasn't been cast yet, io9 Gizmodo reports that there are at least two main characters who have already joined the project: Griffin Newman (from Vinyl) will be playing the superhero's sidekick, Arthur Everest, while Valorie Curry (from shows like The Following and House of Lies) has been cast as Dot, his sister.

In the revival, The Tick will be recovering from losing his memory, then teaming up with Arthur, who has been labeled a schizophrenic because he keeps saying evil is trying to take over The City, to fight crime. Dot, in the meantime, loves her brother to death but is concerned over his dangerous exploits with the superhero, particularly considering how inadequate he seems to be in the job of city vigilante.
