Cartoon Network's The Powerpuff Girls is coming back to the small screen for a planned reboot, and the release date has just been announced!

The show that taught millennial girls that women could be awesome superheroes and remain adorable at the same time, featuring Chemical X-created ladies Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, will be back in Townsville to kick butt, starting this April.

According to TVLine, Professor Utonium's three daughters will be back to save the day on Cartoon Network next Monday, April 4, at 6 p.m., in a double-episode premiere. There's an entire new season of the beloved show coming up, and Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup will be keeping Townsville from harm from that date until April 15, then fitting right back into the show's traditional Thurdays-at-6 slot on April 21.

This will be the first time the network releases original content with the superheroines since the 2014 CGI special Powerpuff Girls: Dance Pantsed, which even featured a new song by former Beatle Ringo Starr.

Coming Soon reports that, ahead of the official airdate, the new Powerpuff Girls show will be premiering next March 14 in the iconic South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, in a big event including parades and parties, all dedicated to the show's fanbase.

This is just the first of a series of premiere events planned around the world, as the show will be airing in Cartoon Network channels in several regions all over, including Latin America, Europe and Asia.

Created by Craig McCracken, the Powerpuff Girls pilot first aired on the '90s What a Cartoon segment, which would also introduce other Cartoon Network classics like Dexter's Laboratory and even Seth MacFarlane's Family Guy.

Getting picked up for series, the original show ran from 1998 to 2005 and became one of Cartoon Network's most successful franchises, getting a myriad of video games and licensed merchandise as well as an anime, a feature film and the aforementioned 2014 special.
