Mike Colter, who co-starred in last year's Marvel's Jessica Jones, has just announced the official release date of the first season of Luke Cage!

The second season of the Charlie Cox-starring show Daredevil is coming to Netflix in only a few days, introducing a few big names to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but things are still moving along for their Hell's Kitchen franchise.

According to Comic Book, Colter attended the red carpet premiere of the Daredevil Season 2 last Thursday and he took the opportunity to reveal the date for the next Marvel Netflix series: Sept. 30!

In keeping with tradition so far, Luke Cage will be premiering with a half-year difference to the one before it. This will be the third out of four planned shows leading up to The Defenders, an Avengers-like team of street-level superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically around Hell's Kitchen. The next series, Iron Fist, recently cast its leading man: Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones will be playing Danny Rand in the series, which will presumably be released at some point next year.

So far, the only two Marvel Netflix series have been renewed for second seasons, which will probably slow down the release of the Defenders show, as they're releasing two seasons per year. For 2016, we'll get Daredevil and Luke Cage, while Jessica Jones has been confirmed for some point in 2017; if Iron Fist comes out next year, it could mean that 2017 will have no Season 3 of Matt Murdock's adventures, but we're getting ahead of ourselves.

With Agents of S.H.I.E.LD. and the precariously rated Agent Carter on ABC (and a planned spinoff pilot, Marvel's Most Wanted) plus all the Defenders shows on Netflix, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding on the small screen as much as it is on the big one. It's unclear whether the success of the television shows will eventually lead to movies, though it seems unlikely at this point.

In any case, the next MCU property will be Season 2 of Daredevil, which will be available in its 13-episode binging glory starting March 18.
