Scandal season 5 is here and it's hotter than ever! The creators have taken things to the next level with so much scandal brewing in the race for presidency. In the next episode, "Pencils Down," Olivia (Kerry Washington) is finally getting control over all of her boys. Mellie (Bellamy Young) makes a very public misstep. Liv must come to the rescue in determining how far she will go to fix it. We all know whatever Liv says goes.

Last episode, we saw a power struggle between Liv and Quinn (Katie Lowes). Liv has been busy handling Mellie and spying on Jake that she has been pretty much out of the loop in terms of Olivia Pope & Associates. Quinn is not one for the games and she decides to put Liv in her place about it. Abby (Darby Stanchfield) has taken matters of the White House into her own hands. After realizing that she wants to run things in the Oval, she makes a power play and snitches on Cyrus (Jeff Perry) to Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and gets him canned.

In the biggest chess move of the episode, Hollis Doyle (Gregg Henry) comes back out of the hole he was hiding in. True to his nature, Hollis steals the limelight from Mellie by stealing her campaign ideas and slogan to run for president under the demise of trying to help her. As we can see, some things never change.

In the teaser for the next episode, Olivia and her associates learn a few more important things about Jake's (Scott Foley) fiancée Vanessa. David Rosen (Joshua Malina) is still up to no good as he juggles Susan Ross (Artemis Pebdani) in an effort to win over Elizabeth North's (Portia de la Rossi) affection. SMH.

Scandal airs Thursdays on ABC at 9/8c. Make sure you tune in to see if Mellie is able to turn the tables on Hollis and reclaim her position on the presidency.
