WGN America continues with the premiere of their new original drama, Underground. In Episode 3, The Lord's Day, Noah (Aldis Hodge) and Rosalee (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) continue to plan their daring 600-mile escape from their Georgia plantation.

Noah and his team realize they need to make sure their homemade strap is strong enough to hold together. The plantation is suddenly filled with screams as Zeke fights to get his wife back. Because she drowned her baby, Zeke's wife has been sold to save traders to another plantation. Zee ends up in confinement, which doesn't sit well with Noah because he needs a strong man for the escape.

With Zeke locked away, Cato (Alano Miller) decides  to pay him a visit. Cato will help Zeke out but only if he shows loyalty only to him, and not Noah. Cato wants to know more about the map and the lyrics that lead to freedom. While Noah is hiding and strapped to the ceilng, Tom Macon (Reed Diamond) is so close to discovering what he is really planning.

At the plantation, Rosalee has to pull off her own heist and lift Tom Macon's seal. Rosalee wants to prove she is tough enough to make the escape but she's too scared. When the seal is discovered missing, the house slaves point the blame on the other slaves.

John Hawkes (Marc Blucas) and his wife Elizabeth (Jessica De Gouw) are remodeling the baby's room, which can serve as a hideaway for runaway slaves. Unfortunately, John and Elizabeth have to make appearances at a socialite ball. John needs to steal something from the owner's bedroom.

While John and Elizabeth are working on the heist, getting upstairs is proving to be difficult. Elizabeth foods around and asks the other girls to dance with her. No one can keep their eyes off the girls as John makes his way upstairs to make the steal.

With the salves rounded together, Tom Macon wants to see just how strong they are. Noah and the others are forced to hold cement up high until someone tells him where the seal is. Feeling guilty, Rosalee then shows Ernestine where she hid the seal.

Tom Macon's wife then discovers her own son took the seal. After she leaves, Ernestine then pays the little boy with money. While out fishing, Noah discovers another major clue from the lyrics.

During the night, Rosalee meets with the man who whipped her. The drunken salve owner reveals to Rosalee his sob story and describes how his wife died. Full of drunken rage, the rapist drags Rosalee back into his home.

As the fighting and rape ensues, Noah heads out to see Rosalee. He suddenly sees her running out of the house. Rosalee screams  that they have to run now.

As Rosalee and Noah escape the plantation through the carriage, Elizabeth discovers the crate is suddenly open. The slave, who escaped from the crate, has his knife pointed at John.
