Minzy Confirms She is Leaving 2NE1: What About CL, Park Bom and Dara?

After a recent report that Minzy has been searching for a new agency as her contract with YG Entertainment comes to an end, the rumor mill went into overdrive that 2NE1 may be disbanding as all members are focusing on individual activities. Sadly, it appears that the rumors (at least some of them) are looking to be true. Will CL, Park Bom and Dara continue on or is it curtain call time for the popular group?

CL is focused on her U.S. debut, while Sandara Park is currently focusing on numerous variety programs. As for the news that Blackjacks (2NE1 fans) recently got regarding Minzy, it was about her swan song. YG released a statement and revealed that the 22-year-old singer and dancer would not be continuing on with the famous K-pop girl group after declining to renew her contract with the agency.

“We first would like to apologize for delivering such unfortunate news to all of our patient fans that have been waiting for a long time We would like to officially announce that 2NE1’s maknae [youngest of the group] Minzy will no longer be part of the group," the South Korean entertainment company said in a statement.

The label explained that other three 2NE1 members expressed interest in continuing the group, but Minzy felt otherwise.

"With May 5th, 2016 marking the date for each 2NE1 members to renew their contracts, YG tried to convince each member through individual meetings since January in hopes of contract renewals. However, Minzy did not wish to continue in the group 2NE1," YG revealed.

The label assured fans that 2NE1 would continue with the three remaining members, and that CL, Park Bom and Dara are currently preparing to release a new song that's expected to be released this summer. There are no plans to add a new member to replace Minzy.

Fans are understandably heartbroken about the sad news.
