Ten years ago, Meryl Streep played one of her most fabulous roles to date: Miranda Priestly, editor in chief of fictional fashion magazine Runway in The Devil Wears Prada. It's well-known that the character was based on Vogue Editor Anna Wintour, but one Oscar winner claims the hairstyle is all hers: Helen Mirren says Streep stole her look!

While the Miranda Priestly may have paid homage to Wintour, the cut was actually copy-and-pasted from another fashionable lady, Dame Helen.

"Meryl Streep once told me she 'borrowed my hair' in The Devil Wears Prada," Mirren revealed to the U.K.'s Woman & Home Magazine, via The Belfast Telegraph. "I thought it was a massive compliment. I saw a picture of her playing the role and thought, 'Oh yes, that is my hair!'"

Streep got an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of the icy fashion boss -- but she lost to Mirren for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in Stephen Frears' The Queen.

According to Vanity Fair, Streep's hairstyle in the film almost didn't happen. The person who was president of Fox 2000 at the time, Elizabeth Gabler, was definitely against Streep wearing a wig for the film. Still, director David Frankel stood his ground and said he wouldn't be the one telling that to the actress, and it would appear nobody dared to do that.

With three Oscars to her name (two at the time Devil Wears Prada came out), it makes sense that people would find it hard to tell Streep how to do her job or even how to look when she's acting. Thankfully, too: Miranda Priestly's 'do in the movie is almost as iconic as Streep's performance!
