Los Angeles police confirmed Wednesday that Charlie Sheen is the subject of a criminal investigation related to an audio recording of the former Two and a Half Men star ranting that he would pay someone $20,000 to kill or harm former fiancee Brett Rossi.

Sheen is alleged to be heard saying: "This piece of s*** needs to be f***ing buried. I’d rather spend 20 grand to have her head kicked in.”

Rossi’s lawyer, John C. Taylor, confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that the investigation involves his client.

“She takes this very seriously,” Taylor told the site, confirming that Rossi sought a restraining against Sheen. “She intends to do everything she can to protect herself.”

Sheen, 50, has a history of turbulent and violent relationships with women. His issues only increased after he acknowledged in 2015 that he has been HIV positive. When Sheen went public with his diagnosis, he said since learning of his condition that he had had unprotected sex with only two partners, who were aware of his HIV status and under the care of his doctor. Rossi claims Sheen did not tell her, and at least one other person, actress Bree Olson, has said she was not informed, either.

Rossi has previously accused Sheen in a civil suit of assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, false imprisonment and negligence for failing to disclose that he was HIV-positive during their engagement, which ended in 2014.

She is suing him and claiming that Sheen reneged on a $1 million settlement and forced her to abort a pregnancy for fear the child would be HIV-positive.

According to a search warrant served to Radar Online, Rossi told police that she lives in “constant fear that Sheen will harm her in retaliation for the lawsuit."

The story is still developing and there was no immediate comment from Sheen's representatives.
