Manny Pacquiao defeated rival boxer Timothy Bradley Jr. in Las Vegas on Saturday night in what the Filipino boxer has called the final fight of his career. Pacquiao took the fight 116-110 on all three cards, leading some (like Bob Arum) to believe the retirement is only a temporary thing.

The 37-year-old floored Bradley twice in their epic welterweight fight, eventually coning out a comfortable winner by unanimous decision.

Although Bradley was excelling in the early rounds, Pacman came storming back, knocking his American opponent down and showing what has made him such a fan favorite for so many years.

“I was looking for a knockout every round. His style is to counter punch. But I countered him. He was different to the last two fights, and he improved,” Pacquiao said after the fight. “I can still fight – but I made the decision to retire tonight, work for my people and spend more time with my family.”

As The New York Times reports, it had been clear Pacquiao's career was "winding down." But, "as he stepped into the ring on Saturday night for a third fight against Timothy Bradley Jr., he was determined to show that he was not leaving because his skills had diminished. He wanted to win convincingly, he said."

The April 9 fight was believed to be Pacquiao’s last professional fight. He confirmed it in the post-fight interview, but some skeptics believe he may be tempted again to step into the ring. Even promoter Bob Arum believes that his retirement is just temporary.

"He's torn," Arum revealed. "His wife wants him to retire. He's running for office, and if he wins, which he will, there will be tremendous responsibilities that go with it. However,a big payday is something he might require in the near future."

Arum added, "He doesn't have money problems now, but of course he's going to have money problems if he's going to be building hospitals out of his own pocket instead of letting the [Philippines] government build the hospitals."

When asked if his decision to retire was only because his family wanted him to do it and not him, Pacquiao's answer revealed that might exactly be the case.

"In my heart I'm 50-50," he said. "But I love my family, and I won't hurt my family, my kids. I don't know, I might enjoy my retired life or I might want to come back. It's hard to say because I'm not there yet. But right now, my decision is to retire."
