MStars News is sadden to hear that Chicago's V103 radio personality, Doug Banks, has died at the age of 57 due to his battle with diabetes. WGNTV and TV host Roland Martin reported that Banks died from kidney failure, while other sources just say that it was due to complications from diabetes.

Banks had a syndicated show called The Doug Banks Show that aired from 2 pm to 6 pm on weekdays, and he previously worked in top cities including: L.A., San Francisco, Las Vegas and Detroit. Banks started his radio career while in high school. He also worked alongside radio great, Tom Joyner. In the flashback moment below, Banks and Joyner hosted a contest for their former station, WGCI, back in 1989. Before his death, Banks was absent from his show due to illness. In the post below, Banks gave a shout out to his nurse while being cared for.

Banks also working in television appearing on ABC 7's, 190 North. V103 released a statement confirming that Banks died. They wrote on Facebook and their website: "With a heavy heart our V103 family would like to send our thoughts and prayers to Doug Banks' family and friends. Doug, a true radio legend, has passed away today. Doug was an inspiration to many, the "Dan Ryan Head" and a radio icon in Chicago radio for many years. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him."
