The fans of the CW series The Flash are still undoubtedly disappointed that Grant Gustin did not appear as the Scarlet Speedster in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, BvS executive producer Charles Roven has just offered an explanation why the DC Extended Universe chose Ezra Miller to portray Barry Allen in the two Justice League films as well as The Flash solo flick!

Roven recently spoke to ComingSoon, where he commented on how the TV Flash is different from the DCEU Flash.

"Television is interesting," Roven said before stating that the two Speedsters are not the same Barry.

"It's going to be interesting to see if you can have two characters in two different mediums have the same name, have many of the same attributes and still coexist harmoniously because they're from two different universes," he said.

Roven continued that the CW Barry is not connected to the Barry that appeared in BvS.

"The Flash on the television show and the Flash in Batman v Superman don't have anything to do with one another," he said, adding, "They don't exist in the same time, place, universe or even dimension."

BvS director Zack Snyder has previously spoken up about the decision to use a different actor to play The Flash rather than just cast Gustin in Batman v Superman.

"I'm very strict with this universe," he said, indicating that the Flash in Snyder-verse would have a darker tone compared to the light-hearted character in the CW series.

"Even if Grant Gustin is my favorite guy in the world and he's very good, we made a commitment to the multi-verse [idea], so it's just not a thing that's possible," Snyder concluded.

Miller will appear as the Speedster in Justice League - Part 1 (November 17, 2017) and Part 2 (June 14, 2019) as well as The Flash (March 16, 2018).
