Kit Harington was seen on the set of the Game of Thrones Season 6, sparking numerous rumors regarding his character's fate on the show after Jon Snow died at the end of last year's season -- but it's still unclear whether he'll still be alive for this month's HBO release. Whatever the case, one thing is clear: Harington didn't exactly feel at home in the Westeros world.

After years working on Thrones, Harington has now returned to the London stage, where he started out, to handle the lead role of one of the classics: Christopher Marlowe's Doctor Faustus. As he's promoting his big West End production, the actor sat down with the U.K.'s Time Out Magazine, where he expanded on what it was like working on GoT.

For the 29-year-old actor, the hardest part about his role in Thrones -- and working on television in general -- was how "lonely" his life had become since becoming a superstar, as he spent months away from home shooting.

"I'm a London boy, it's my home, I f*cking love this place. At the moment I'm around my friends and my girlfriend. In a shallow way, that's a reason to take this job," Harington said, speaking about the West End production. "Privacy can be hard when you get some success, but the really difficult thing is being away so much."

Still, not all is lost, as up until Season 4 of the show he had a filming partner close to his heart: Actress Rose Leslie, who played Jon Snow's love interest Ygritte in the HBO series, is also Harington's girlfriend in real life. Still, her character got killed off a couple of seasons back, so it must have been particularly hard to shoot Seasons 5 and 6 for the actor.

Last year, Harington's Jon Snow was killed at the end of Season 5, though fans refuse to believe that such a pivotal character will remain dead.

The Game of Thrones Season 6 will return to HBO on April 24.
