'Jurassic World 2' Movie News: 'The Impossible' Director J.A. Bayona is Now Confirmed

After being a box-office hit in 2015, it was pretty clear that Legendary Pictures will give Jurassic World a sequel. Over the past few months, there have been several speculations about the storyline and the cast for the upcoming film However, it is now confirmed that The Impossible director, J. A. Bayona is going to direct Jurassic World 2.

Jurassic World grossed an astounding $1.67 billion dollars at the box-office and at the time of release, there was talks about the possible sequel. In an interview with WIRED, Jurassic World director, Colin Trevorrow talked about Jurassic World and stated that the sequel will feature Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt in the lead.

While talking about the movie, Trevorrow stated that Jurassic World 2 will not be about dinosaurs kept on an island and killing people. But it would follow a story that is spend over a larger horizon. During that time, Trevorrow did not confirm anything about his part in the upcoming film.

When it was announced that Trevorrow will be directing Star Wars: Episode IX, it was pretty much clear that he would't be working as a director for World 2. However, it confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter that along with his partner, Derek Connelly, Trevorrow will be co-writing the story.

On Monday morning, Trevorrow used his Twitter to announce that Bayona will will be directing the sequel.

Bayona is famous for directing films like The Impossible, The Orphanage and this year's fantasy film, A Monster Call (check out the trailer). But he has never worked on a grand scale like this before, so it is interesting to see Legendary Pictures choosing to hire him as the director.
