Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman may have been a total scene-stealer in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice when she saved Ben Affleck's Caped Crusader and single-handedly took on Doomsday, but there appears to be more to the DC heroine than meets the eye in superhero flick. The movie's Tech Manual has just revealed several details about the Amazonian princess' weapons, including a well-thought engraving to Joseph Campbell in her sword and shield!

ComicBook.com has uncovered the information from the Batman v Superman Tech Manual, where the movie's prop master Doug Harlocker describes how director Zack Snyder wanted to make sure Wonder Woman's weapons featured several intricate details.

"Zack wanted some inscription on both her shield and her sword, so we needed to create a language," Harlocker said. "We talked to a linguist who specializes in ancient scripts and extinct languages."

In addition to that, Snyder also chose a special quote to be engraved into the weapons.

"There's a Joseph Campbell quote in his book Goddesses: Mystery of the Feminine Divine that Zack really liked," Harlocker continued. "So we translated that into this kind of hybrid extinct language and engraved it onto the blades, and around the outside of the shield."

The quote that Snyder chose for Wonder Woman's sword and shield is translated, "Life is killing all the time and so the goddess kills herself in the sacrifice of her own animal."

The Campbell quote isn't the only detail added to Wonder Woman's weaponry. Her motif, the eagle, is also engraved into the sword.

You can get a closer look at the engravings here.

The Tech Manual also reveals that there were two swords created for Gadot in Batman v Superman. The first blade was used for when the actress would be battling a "physical opponent." While the second, a much longer weapon was made for her fight with "CG foes."
