Castle Season 9 Spoilers: Twitter Reacts Stana Katic/Kate Beckett Shock Departure!

ABC has plans underway for Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) in the upcoming Season 9 of Castle. Twitter had lots to say about the shocking departure of Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) after the eight season finale.

As we previously mentioned, fans had voted Castle stars Fillion and Katic as their Favorite TV Crime Drama Actor and Actress at the People's Choice Awards 2016. Detective Kate Beckett had on-screen chemistry with writer-turned-private eye Richard Castle The crime-solving duo Now the crime procedural drama will continue on without one of their main stars.

According to Deadline, there will be a major shakeup to the ABC drama series. Not only is Katic leaving, original cast member Tamala Jones (Lanie Parish) has also decided not to return. Though the Firefly actor is in negotiations to return , the ninth season will reportedly be cut down to 13-episodes.

Katic states, "Rather then distract from what was an amazing experience, I would just like to say that I'm very grateful to ABC for giving me the opportunity to be a part of a much beloved show. Thank you to the fans."

As US Magazine reports, Fillion describes his co-star, "Stana has been my partner all this time, and I thank her for creating the character of Beckett who will live on for all of us as one of the greatest police officers on television.""
