When Robert Downey Jr. is not being Iron Man, he loves to solve some mysterious crime as Sherlock Holmes. If recent reports are to be believed, then the makers of Sherlock Holmes 3 have hired new writers to increase the creativity of the upcoming mystery film.

After watching Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock, fans of Sherlock Holmes are eagerly waiting to see what new storyline Downey Jr. is going to bring in Sherlock Holmes 3. Deadline reported that Sherlock Holmes' earlier writer Drew Pearce, who originally wrote for Downey Jr.'s Iron Man 3, is being replaced by James Coyne, who is famous for writing Vikingdom and the upcoming fantasy film, Ulysses: A Dark Odyssey.

The first two parts in the film, Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows were directed by Guy Ritchie and were produced by Lionel Wigram along with Joel Silver, Susan Downey and Dan Lin. In 2014, Susan stated that the third film in the series was under development as the team had an idea about the story but there was "not a script yet."

In 2015, Wigram confirmed that the screenwriting team was currently busy pinning down the best story in the Sherlock Holmes film series. While talking with IGN, Wigram further stated that the new story would be best among all the three films in the series.

"I think we would all love to do one if we could come up with something that really was really going to knock it out of the park and was going to be the best of the three. So we're working on that - it's quite hard to do."

In Sherlock Holmes 3, Downey Jr. and Jude Law will reprise their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. There is no official release date for the film, but we are hoping that after the release of Captain America: Civil War, Downey Jr. will start shooting Sherlock Holmes 3.
