NFL Draft & Jared Goff, Carson Wentz Generating Excitement for Season; Tickets on Sale!

The 2016 NFL Draft is about to commence on Thursday, April 28, at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago, Illinois, in which only the first round of draft picks were made. Friday and Saturday, meanwhile, will encompass Rounds 2-7.

Typically, big trades happen on draft night or a few days before the actual draft. The Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles, however, have bucked conventional wisdom and made trades weeks before the draft. The Rams traded numerous picks to the Tennessee Titans in order to move-up from Pick #15 to Pick #1, while the Eagles traded numerous picks to the Cleveland Browns to move-up from Pick #8 to Pick #2. The Rams and Eagles are both expected to draft quarterbacks, but at this stage, fans don't know which quarterback will be selected by Los Angeles. California's Jared Goff and North Dakota State's Carson Wentz are widely regarded as the top-two quarterbacks, so the Rams' management will choose its "guy" as a new era is ushered in in LA.

Both Goff and Wentz have positive and negative attributes. While Goff lacks prototypical size and above average arm-strength, his decision-making, experience in Cal's fast-paced offense, and intangibles make him an intriguing selection as a franchise quarterback.

Wentz, on the other hand, has a much larger frame and has drawn comparisons to Andrew Luck from a physical standpoint, but Wentz has suffered injuries during his college career, did not play in a highly competitive conference, and his decision-making process has been characterized as "slow." Given his physical tools and rushing ability, Wentz has more upside than Goff does, but Goff has more prudent college experience and more "NFL-ready" tools. Whichever quarterback is selected will have to handle expectations that come along with playing in Los Angeles.

The city of Los Angeles has become very excited about the prospect of having an NFL franchise and that excitement is directly reflected on the secondary ticket market. The home opener for Los Angeles will be played on Sunday, Sept. 18 against Seattle. Seahawks vs. Rams tickets start at $560, which is the highest get-in ticket price this season. Flights to Los Angeles, from Seattle, start at $126. On Hipmunk, hotels in Los Angeles start at $200 for that weekend.

It's been nearly 21 years since the NFL had a team in Los Angeles. When news in January broke that the Rams were heading back to Los Angeles, celebrity support came in full force. Hall of Fame running back and ex-Los Angeles Ram Eric Dickerson tweeted support for the move. Other celebrities, such as Ryan Seacrest, Josh Gad and Colin Hanks, all tweeted congratulatory things to the Rams. Expect to see many stars at the home opener against Seattle.

While the quarterback position has two polarizing talents at the top of most draft boards, other positions feature dynamic, game-changing talents. There are numerous intriguing prospects that play on the defensive line, but Ohio State's Joey Bosa and Clemson's Shaq Lawson top the class.

Bosa registered 18.5 sacks over the last two seasons and plays with a relentless motor. Lawson is an athletic, physical freak that has a knack for getting to the quarterback. Talented offensive linemen will be needed to block these defensive line talents, so luckily, teams will have their choice of some very good prospects. The top offensive linemen include Ole Miss' Laremy Tunsil, Notre Dame's Ronnie Stanley, Michigan State's Jack Conklin, and Ohio State's Taylor Decker. Ohio State's Ezekiel Elliott is the top-ranked running back in this class and has drawn comparisons to Rams' running back, Todd Gurley.

In the secondary, Florida State's Jalen Ramsey is the top-ranked cornerback/safety. Ramsey is a gifted athlete that has crushed the NFL Combine and could play either cornerback or free safety in the NFL. All of these players have game-changing ability, so tune in on Thursday night to see where each player lands.
