'Gotham' Season 2 Spoilers: Twitter Reacts Michael Chiklis, Cory Michael Smith Riddler Twist!

Season 2 of the Batman prequel series, Gotham, continues on Fox. Twitter had lots to say about the shocking twist between Edward Nygma aka The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) and GCPD captain Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis)!

In our previous recap, after being proven innocent, Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) went to work investigating the Wayne murders as a private detective. Unfortunately, Jim's investigation took a deadly turn when he met Mister Freeze (Nathan Darrow), who murdered his key witness. The only clue Gordon had led him to Dr. Hugo Strange (BD Wong), who had just resurrected Theo Galavan (James Frain).

In our recent recap, Gordon found himself being hunted down by a costumed killer named Azrael. During their rooftop fight, Barnes discovered Azrael was really Theo before being stabbed in the stomach. After Gordon blasted Azrael off the roof, the news crews captured evidence of Galavan alive in their footage. As Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) seeks revenge against the man who killed his mother, Edward discovered the secret lab Dr. Hugo Strange has been hiding.

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Smith teases what's next for Nygma, "He's going to try to figure out how to get out of his three-foot by four-foot cell. That is his plight. If it doesn't work, he needs to engage with Strange and Peabody. That's his goal. He needs out of being a prisoner."
