You can't get through the college basketball playoffs these days without seeing a billion different bracket-style poll battles, aping the familiar March Madness format and asking readers to chime in. Esquire had the best Twitter bracket, Grantland had the most-hated college basketball player bracket it (broken up into '80s, '90s,'00s and Duke regions) and Time Magazine in an interesting twist had the most influential person of the decade bracket, voted on by us little people. And apparently us little people are mostly Little Monsters because Lady Gaga almost won.

Lady Gaga made it out of a slog that featured President Barack Obama and Harry Potter wordslinger J.K. Rowling to face Burmese opposition politician and noted political prisoner Aung San Suu Kyi. Apparently, being held under house arrest for 15 years, winning the Nobel Peace Prize and rallying your Democratic opposition party to a resounding victory in Parliament is just enough to squeak by the singer of "Just Dance."

The bracket was broken down into Entertainment, Politics, Technology and Icons. (Gaga faced Barry O. in a Entertainment-Politics Final Four showdown, Aung San Suu Kyi faced Larry Paige in a Tech-Icons battle). Check out the full bracket with Aung San Suu Kyi sitting pretty as the victor here.

I'm sure Gaga's not feeling too down, however. In spite of being on an extended hiatus due to hip complications and a lack of recent music, she still beat out the sitting president of the United States and the greatest children's author of all time in a contest measuring influence. That's high praise.

What do you think? Are there more deserving people for the title of "Most Influential Person of The Last Ten Years"? Add them in the comments. Do you think President Obama, J.K. Rowling or Larry Paige deserved the win more? Why?
