The 2016 U.S. Open will be played from June 13 to June 19 at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. Oakmont will host a week-long slate of event that will culminate with anointing the 2016 U.S. Open champion. Oakmont is no stranger to the U.S. Open, hosting it a record nine times. In the weeks leading up to the event, most golfers will need to qualify for the U.S. Open, so keep an eye on local tournament scores and qualifying information. A total field of 156 golfers will vie for the top prize of $1.8 million.

The U.S. Open is normally held at the toughest courses in the U.S., and this year's course is no different. Oakmont features fast greens, an overall beautiful layout, and some deep rough. In addition, 15,000 trees were removed recently, which should make the wind a factor. This layout is a recipe for low scores and an all-around competitive weekend. Local golf fans are eagerly anticipating the arrival of reigning U.S. Open champion Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlory, Jason Day, and reigning Masters champion Danny Willett. Three-time U.S. Open champion, Tiger Woods, may also play at this event. Fans looking for great ticket prices can find deals on Razorgator. U.S. Open tickets for all four rounds of play start at $360.

Major golf events tend to draw celebrities and athletes alike. Since the U.S. Open will be played in Pennsylvania, current Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and Hall of Fame running back Jerome Bettis have been touting the event and the course. In fact, Bettis played a round in May at Oakmont and shot an 82. Bettis and Roethlisberger figure to be prominent stars that attend this year's U.S. Open, but expect other top athletes and stars to attend the festivities. For those driving to the course to take in all the action, many options exist for local Pittsburgh parking on ParkWhiz.

Spieth enters this event as the reigning U.S. Open champion. Last year, the U.S. Open was held at Chambers Bay golf course in Washington. Spieth played four solid rounds of golf in order to take home the victory. Dustin Johnson, who shot a 65 in the opening round, regressed as the tournament progressed and tied for second place. Louis Oosthuizen tied Johnson for second place by overcoming a disaster 77 in the first round and shooting 66, 66, and 67 over his final three rounds.

The U.S. Open is one tournament that proves all four rounds of action have meaning on the final outcome. In fact, fans hoping to attend the final round of the U.S. Open can still find great deals on Razorgator. U.S. Open tickets for the final round start at $67 in the gallery.
