Avengers, was one of the top grossing films worldwide. After the success from first film, they are cutting no expenses to guarantee a box office blow out with Avengers 2. Iron Man 2 star, Robert Downey Jr. will star in the second Avengers installment, and is said to be cashing in more than the entire cast combined.

Robert Downey Jr. is rumored to be making $50 million for a lead role in Avengers 2, the success of his comeback career with the Iron Man trilogy has made him one of he higher paid actors of the decade.

The first Avengers film stars like Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) did not even reach double-digit payouts; making between $4 million and $6 million, which means Downey Jr. made double their combined salaries, according to This Is 50.

Returning and new cast mates must be upset. Jackson has played some major roles himself, with a recent noteworthy appearance in D'Jango Unchained, as Stephen, the misguided house slave.

"Isn't that crazy?" Downey Jr. told GQ in a recent profile. "They're so pissed. I can't believe it. I'm what's known as 'a strategic cost.' "

While Downey is rolling in the dough now, when he was facing legal issues and battle addictions his career was not as hot. According to GQ, before the recent upturn in his career, Downey says that he was not a wealthy man. "The missus has always been able to pull in some ducats here and there," he said. "I was definitely leaning on her (his wife) for a while. And happily so, I might add. I would make a great deadbeat husband-I would have no problem with that whatsoever."

With his next upcoming box office hit, his wife can sit back and relax, because $50 million is a whole lot of money.
