After skipping the San Diego Comic-Con last year to the dismay of comic book fans all over the world, it seems Marvel Studios could be dropping by the major geek California event for 2016 -- bringing along the Earth's Sorcerer Supreme. Scott Derrickson, the director of the Benedict Cumberbatch superhero movie Doctor Strange, just teased a possible trailer for the summer event!

Derrickson, whose past works include The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Deliver Us From Evil, recently took to Twitter to tease his possible appearance at the SDCC this year. Publishing a picture of a Doctor Strange poster as a promo for the event, the filmmaker asked if he was attending, throwing this as a hint -- so it seems Marvel will be coming back to Comic-Con!

Doctor Strange is currently in post-production ahead of its premiere during the fall as the second and final Marvel Cinematic Universe film of 2016, after the box office smash Captain America: Civil War. The first teaser of the film, which showed glimpses of Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme as well as Tilda Swinton's Ancient One, was released on Jimmy Kimmel Live barely a few days after production wrapped in New York City.

This year marked the beginning of the MCU's Phase 3, which will feature mostly original films instead of sequels. Besides Doctor Strange, which will be the first iteration of the character, other superheroes getting their own stand-alone movies in the next couple of years include Civil War characters Spider-Man and Black Panther, plus new superheroine Captain Marvel.

Now, it seems the Marvel panel at the San Diego Comic-Con could be pretty interesting, considering the studio has three big movies coming up next year. After Derrickson seemingly confirmed his appearance at the SDCC, it appears another Marvel director could show up: James Gunn also teased will be new footage from Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 this year!

"Really? You'll be so close. I might have to come see you," Gunn, who's fairly vocal on social media, tweeted in response to Derrickson's original tweet.

While the director's mere presence in the SDCC doesn't necessarily mean new footage from Guardians, considering it's the only film he currently has in production, it seems likely we could at least get the first teaser for the sequel.

There's no word yet on whether we'll get any new previews or info about the other two 2017 MCU movies, namely Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok.
