'The Big Bang Theory' Season 10: Katey Sagal Playing Kaley Cuoco's Mom Again!

Nearly 15 years ago, 8 Simple Rules introduced us to the woman who'd go on to become the highest-paid actress on television: Kaley Cuoco, best known for her role of Penny in The Big Bang Theory. As casting for Season 10 of the hit sitcom takes place, one announcement will be music to the ears of Cuoco's lifelong fans: her original TV mom, Katey Sagal, will also play Penny's mother!

According to TV Guide, Sagal, best known for her in the classic sitcom Married with Children, has signed up to play Penny's mom during the show's upcoming tenth season.

Sagal has a long career in television behind her, from her role as Peggy Bundy and playing Cuoco's mother in 8 Simple Rules (a show best known for featuring John Ritter's last role), Sagal has also been involved in numerous shows, in both drama and comedy. She voiced Leela during the entire run of Futurama and, most recently, she starred in Sons of Anarchy and narrated the short-lived romantic comedy series A to Z.

Golden Globe-winning Sagal won't be the only one of Penny's family members introduced soon: Jack McBrayer, who you'll recognize as the cheerful NBC page Kenneth from 30 Rock, will also step into the show, playing Penny's troubled brother. Both actors will début on The Big Bang Theory during the Season 10 premiere, on Sept. 19.

The announcement was made last weekend during the San Diego Comic-Con.

"There will be a little reunion there, which we're excited about," Steve Molar, executive producer for TBBT, said of Sagal's casting as Penny's mother, via Yahoo! Celebrity. "She's going to be a little bit of a neurotic character because she's spent her life with her troubled son, Randall, who has been in and out of jail and has had some issues with dealing drugs. So we're going to start to dive into that."

Considering how important Cuoco's role is in the show, it's actually impressive how many gaps there are in her character -- in the nine seasons aired so far in the show, her surname has never been revealed, and she's also the only main cast member whose mother we've never seen, as only her dad has popped in on rare occasion, played by Hollywood royalty Keith Carradine.

Many of the parents of the main characters of the show have been played by Hollywood legends: from Carradine's recurring role dad to Laurie Metcalf playing Sheldon's mom, Christine Baranski as Mrs. Hofstadter and Judd Hirsch as Leonard's dad.
