Filming locations for 'Game of Thrones' season 7 have been released and it's no different from the past seasons. The very popular HBO series will return to Spain in October to film season7.

Spain is known for its awesome natural beauty with a variety of land and water formations but what makes the country captivating for 'Game of Thrones' creators are its historic landmarks, monuments and structures which provide breathtaking backdrops and locations for the series' award-winning episodes.

According to The Local, although the creators of the show revealed that they would be coming back to Spain to shoot, a number of exact filming locations are still kept in secret to avoid leaking the next season's plot.

'Game of Thrones' creators have chosen three regions in Spain for their project which will last from October to December. These regions vary in terrain and environment ranging from windy Atlantic shores to ruins of the Roman Empire located along the western and southern portions of the country.

In the Basque Country, known for its spectacular beaches and sandy stretches, three sites were chosen: San Juan de Gaztelugatxe in Bermeo, Itzurun Beach in Zumaia and La Cantera. In Extremadura where cities seem to be lost in time, three locations have also been chosen: Caceres, Malpartida and Trujillo.

Andalusia has been 'Game of Thrones' creators' favorite way back seasons 5 and 6. The show will be returning to Seville's Alcazar, Reales Atarazanas, Almodovar del Rio and Santiponce. The ruins of the Roman Empire in Italica in Santiponce in Seville will be the backdrop of the epic battle scene planned for season 7.

According to Melty, the much-awaited battle in season 7 will take place on land, not on the sea. The site provided a location update that revealed where Daenery's army will take on the Dothraki. The leak said that the scene will be filled in a level aquatic area in Los Barruecos as well as in a land area in the region. Carriages will be used to move characters to the area considering the rough terrain and environment in Los Barruecos.

And just like any huge battle, a large number of casualties have been predicted. Fans speculate that it could either be Missandei or Grey Worm which will face imminent death in this battle. Tyrion is too valuable to be part of this battle and definitely he won't be in any danger at all.

Filming permissions were already granted to the crew of 'Game of Thrones' to work along archeological sites in Spain. Filming will start in October.
