LG garnered mixed reception with the release of the LG G5 smartphone early this year. With some of its features and design choices not sitting well with consumers, the pressure is on for the LG G6. Question is, would it rise up to the occasion, or fall flat in its face? Some updates may help answer the question.

As reported by GameNGuide, the next flagship smartphone for LG is expected to have a 5.6-inch screen, a high resolution of 4096x2160, 4K viewing support, with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for its screen protection. It will also come with a 24MP Dual LED 3D primary camera that has focus technology, and a 7MP front camera.

The LG G6 is also reported to carry Qualcomm's 3.0 GHz Octa-core Snapdragon processor with a 5GB RAM. It may also run using Google's Android 7.0 Nougat OS, as the smartphones that are coming out as of late already have Android 7 installed.

One of the things that the LG G5 introduced was the modular add-on feature. Dubbed "LG friends", this system allowed owners of the G5 to configure different aspects of the smartphone through the use of modules. Some of the modules included a camera enhancer and an audio DAC. This feature, however, was not received by users as much as LG wanted it to be. As a result, the modular feature will not be included on the G6, according to TrustedReviews.

The aluminum unibody chassis, which was criticized to feel like plastic, may not be coming back as well. And while early rumors pointed out that the G6 may have an OLED display and a full-metal body covered with glass, these features would not be part of the finished product, due to cost and supply issues with the materials needed.

Regarding is release date and price, TrustedReviews tells us that it is expected to come out around February of 2017, with a $750 price tag, according to GameNGuide.

With LG's announcement of a Quick Wireless Charging Pad in October 2016, there would be a big possibility that the G6 would have that feature included at the time of its release. The Charging Pad is a 15W pad that can charge phones quickly (0% to 50% battery charge in less than 30 minutes) using the Wireless Consortium's Qi charging standard. It is to note that the current flagship smartphone, the LG G5, does not support Qi Charging.
