After seven long years, the third installment of "The Boondock Saints" has finally been given a green light. Actor Norman Reedus confirmed that production is in the works.

"The Boondock Saints" is a story of two fraternal twins who took justice in their own hands to cleanse their Irish hometown of evil men. The first film was released in 1999. Norman Reedus, from "The Walking Dead" played Murphy McManus while Sean Patrick Flanery starred as Connor McManus.

The first movie was not so much of a hit although it was positively accepted by both viewers and critics. The sequel, which was released in 2009, made it big in the home video sales. "The Boondock Saints" continue to live on because of the dedication of the creator and the social participation of the stars.

"The Boondock Saints 3" was reported to be sub-titled "Legion". Although there has been no release date yet, it was confirmed by Norman Reedus in Reddit Ask Me Anything that the movie is in the works, according to a report by Morning News USA. Part of the plot would be the discovery of legions of vigilantes. It seems that a lot of people have followed on the twins' footsteps.

Rumors were circulating that big Hollywood movie stars will be cast on the "The Boondock Saints 3: Legion". It was reported that Brad Pitt was cast a role for the movie but the writer, creator and would be director of the movie Troy Duffy was hesitant because Pitt already played an Irish man in a movie before.

It was said on a report by iTechPost that Keanu Reeves and Ethan Hawke were interested on a role in the film but were turned down by Duff. However, there were no confirmations on these rumors. According to the report, both Reedus and Flanery will reprise their roles as the twins. The director has been keen on getting the actors on "The Boondock Saints 3" since 2013.

There have been no updates of the movie's release up until this point. It seems that fans of the "The Boondock Saints" will have to have longer patience to wait for the release.
