Last Monday, Apple released a new OS update for the iPhone - the new and improved iOS 10.1, which now comes with its fixes for major security issues that come along with apps from the App Store. Apple demands iPhone users to download the update for preventive safety and maintenance of iPhones.

According to Silicone Angle, this new security update from Apple is intended for all its products, including iOS, Safari, Apple Watch and Apple TV, for the purpose of patching the range of vulnerabilities. The vulnerabilities include a number that allows for remote code execution attacks, with the main vulnerability known as the "CoreGraphic" bug.

To make things worse, CoreGraphic is used by attackers to totally take over an Apple device through displaying a JPEG or PDF file that includes malicious codes. Meanwhile, for iPhone and iPad users, there will be 12 patches available for the iOS 10.1, packed with fixes for issues in Contacts that would allow another application to gather data.

As reported by Teen Vogue, researcher Marco Grassi discovered this terrifying "CoreGraphic" bug and worked on it to fix the problems. According to the iOS 10.1 release notes, "it resolves an issue that could prevent alarm sounds from going off."

And the even Snapchat issue of "some selfie apps and face filters used with the FaceTime HD Camera" that have failed to work, has now come to be solved in the fixes.

Apple's iOS 10.1 runs on iPhones 5, 5c, 5s, 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, SE, and 7. For iPads, the OS supports iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4, iPad 4th generation, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Pro 9.7 inch, iPad Pro 12.9 inch and the iPad touch 6th gen.

The Apple iOS 10.1's 12 patches for its major fixes is available to download at the App Store. It's highly recommended to download the updates as soon as possible to keep every iPhone and iPad safe and prevent attackers from succeeding.
