Vine (bought by Twitter back in 2012) has announced that they will be "discontinuing" the app in the months to come!

Vine stated that no immediate action will happen to the app or website just yet, except the many job cuts due to decreasing revenue that was announced by Twitter yesterday, according to The Wall Street Journal. Vine also released a statement saying that for the moment "viners" will still be able to access and download vines. The social media plans to execute the discontinuing the right way as much as possible.

The social media app extends their deepest gratitude and appreciation to the creators of vines and the millions of people who turned to vine for a place to get good laughs. Vine was once the top app ranking number 1 on iTunes, but with growing competition from the likes of Snapchat, Instagram and others gave vine a hard time in terms of standing out. According to Techcrunch from the top of the charts, Vine has taken a dive down to number 284 in the free application category on IOS and ranked as number 24 in the Photo & Video category.

Vine opened up a new culture in the young generation known as "do it for the vine", as well as vine celebrities who have accumulated millions of followers. Some of these personalities include Zack King (3.7 million followers) , Thomas Sanders (story time narrations/ 6.8 million followers), Amanda Cerny (4 million followers), Logan Paul (8.8 million followers) and many more. One of the vine stars Jason Nash expressed how "Vine messed up" by letting their top vine creators leave the social media app, many would agree with Jason's other statement that it's indeed weird how fast technology changes.

In any case Vine does promise to work closely with their creators to answer any questions regarding the current situation. More details about this "discontinuation" and the changes that go along with it will be announced through the apps via Twitter and Vine.

If Vine does say goodbye in the near future, it will surely be missed and appeciated for all the time it made people burst out in laughter. Enjoy 100 of the best vines that were ever made!
