The Parrs, Pixar's first superhero family, will grace the screens sooner than expected. Originally scheduled for a 2019 release, the sequel to 2004's The Incredibles is now set to hit the theaters in 2018.

As reported by Empire, director Brad Bird and his team have been working on the project with a feverous pace, and the film will be ready sooner than expected. This would serve as a follow up to the first Incredibles film, which is Pixar's first superhero movie.

The first movie featured Bob and Helen Parr, who were superheroes back in the day, known as Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl respectively, who are forced to live normal lives by the government through their relocation program. Together with their children Violet, Dash and Jack Jack - all of which have superpowers themselves - struggle to fit in the regular world despite having super powers. The family finds themselves into a situation wherein they learn how to work with each other and more than a team, but as a family. A short film was also released in 2005, titled Jack-Jack Attack, which centers on the youngest member of the Parr family, Jack-Jack. According to Pixar Planet, The Incredibles 2 will directed by Brad Bird onece more.

Bird, whose first work with Pixar was the first Incredibles film, also directed Ratatouille. Both films gained success in both box office and with critics, garnering Academy award nominations and gave him two Academy awards for Best Animated Feature. He was also the man behind the movie The Iron Giant, which, while gaining critical success, was only met with meager box office sales.

On the flip side, according to Upcoming Pixar, Toy Story 4 will now be pushed back to 2019. This will mark the second time that the fourth installment of the beloved franchise has been delayed, though no other reasons are given for the delay.
