Puma's Autodisc is facing Nike's HyperAdapt 1.0 sneakers head to head in the market this month. The Autodisc was announced after Nike revealed that it will make the HyperAdapt available in the market by the end of the month. But it looks like HyperAdapt is facing tough competition with Autodisc especially if it is already set to be worn by some of the world's toughest athletes.

The two sportswear giant have each announced their own versions of a futuristic self-lacing shoe; it may be up to consumers to find out which one would work better. But the Autodisc is actually not that new. Pop Sugar said that it has debuted in 2015 with Usain Bolt as its image model. A video of the World's Fastest Man wearing a pair of Autodiscs was shared in Twitter gathered numerous views from sports shoe fans and consumers around the world.

Compared to Nike mass-producing its self-lacing shoe, Puma will initially produce 50 pairs of Autodiscs. Many of these pairs will be reserved for athletes like Bolt and Rickie Fowler. There is no news yet on when the Autodisc will be officially available on a larger scale.

Aside from reporting the launch of Puma's Autodisc, Latin Post also compared the HyperAdapt with the German shoe. The report mentioned that the Autodisc has numerous features just like Nike's but obviously has no laces. Instead of actual shoe laces, the Autodisc has small motors that tightens and releases the straps found inside the shoe. A smartphone app is used to adjust the tightness of the straps. The Autodisc is rechargeable; users simply place the pair on a wireless charging mat.

The HyperAdapt, has laces and Velcro straps along with sensors that adjusts the shoe automatically. It is also battery-powered but is manually adjusted using two buttons found on the shoe itself.
