Marijuana is a dried leaf from the hemp plant. It contains the mind-attending chemical and other related compounds. Legalization of marijuana for medical use or recreational use is growing in other states and that's what happened to Maine, Portland.

Maine residents voted marijuana to be legalized for recreational uses. The referendum tabulated the final results and the count took almost two days because of the race was close within a percentage point. The call was made Thursday afternoon by The Associated Press. The supporters themselves had been declared winners and predicted marijuana would be legal by Christmas.

Sen. Eric Brakey, from the Republican State of Auburn, who also supported the ballot, said that the Maine residents have passed it and all they have to do is to implement it.  Residents age 21 older is now allowed to use 2 1/2 ounces of marijuana and sell marijuana to any shops or clubs or any establishments around the state. On the other hand, the opponents request a recount on Thursday and decide what to do next. Scott Gagnon said, "We need to look at the numbers." Scot Gagnon is one of the organizers of a campaign against the marijuana legalization as a threat to the health and safety for the children.

The campaign pushes legalization immediately turned towards implementation process. They hope that by the year 2018 marijuana will be available in any establishments. According to the ABC News, David Boyer, a campaign manager for Yes On 1 said that the residents who advocate marijuana for legalization will also play the role by implementing it. And he added that all marijuana sold inside Maine will be grown in Maine alone.

The possibility of a recount is still on pending; Maine will be joining California, Nevada, and Massachusetts which have similar issues for this. The proposal in Maine allows people to distribute or sell marijuana products. Meanwhile, the parent's group and other law enforcement organization opposed the proposal even the members of medical marijuana who received the scrutiny because they're afraid it could replace the state's medical program, as AP stated. The largest bloc of uncounted votes remained more than 4,000 absentees of votes.
