Tonight is the night that the moon transforms into a "supermoon." The moon will be closest to earth in 69 years and NASA is giving the best tips on how to view and shoot the moon for that once in a lifetime souvenir.

Gizmodo reported when to expect the supermoon. On November 14 at 11:23 UTC (7:52 a.m. ET) the moon will be at its closest point to the earth. After 2 and a half hours, it will become full looking larger and more brilliant than ever.

NASA mentioned that the supermoon will still be visible after sunset on November 13 and November 14 but there will be differences in both size and brightness. This means that there will be plenty of time to enjoy viewing the supermoon.

To get that awesome shot, NASA's senior photographer Bill Ingalls has released a few tips. He said to take a shot of the supermoon along with a land-based object or people to show how large it really is. A good location to get the best angle at the right time could make a difference. Sometimes pollution and bright lights could also get in the way of a perfect shot and therefore searching for a good location could do wonders. Ingalls further advised to work with anything that you have and to take the shot as a challenge. And finally, he recommends a daylight white balance setting to capture moonlight saying that the moon after all, reflects the sun's light.

ABC also reported on how to shoot the supermoon tonight and mentioned tips from Michael Christopher Brown from the National Geographic. Brown recommends using optical lens and not the digital zoom of smartphones to get that clear and bright shot. He also said to stabilize a phone using a tripod.

Possibly the best way to enjoy the supermoon is to put the camera away and to take it all in. Experts say that it will be 15 percent bigger and brighter. It will be a free show that will never air again for a long time since the next supermoon will be on 2034.
