The popularity of "Pokemon GO" had Potterheads sold on the idea of "Harry Potter GO," a mobile game based off on the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. A petition seeking to have the AR game be created by Niantic Labs is gathering signatures from people interested to play the game. It is rumored that "Harry Potter GO" is in development and might be released in early 2017.

"Harry Potter GO" Petition

The "Harry Potter GO" online petition is still ongoing and there are currently more than 60,000 signatures out of the 65,000 that is needed. According to the site, the petitioners ask for the game to be in honor of the new "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" movie that is scheduled to be released this month.

Since "Pokemon GO" is a game that revolves around catching Pokemon, they hope that the "Harry Potter GO" app could have the same game structure. However, instead of pocket monsters, it will be creatures from the Potterverse instead including Cornish pixies, garden gnomes, centaurs, ghouls and many more. The petition site also suggested that "Harry Potter GO" could be used to promote the new spinoff movie as well.

"Harry Potter GO" Release Date and Details

There have been numerous fan rumors and excitement surrounding the "Harry Potter GO" idea. Some fans even created fan-made trailers, game concepts and more to spell out their desire to have a Harry Potter mobile game.

According to Niantic Labs, they have been given the rights to develop a "Harry Potter GO" app. Information regarding the game including its release date and the actual game itself won't be known until 2017, Telegraph reports.

Fans will have to wait out for the official announcement of the "Harry Potter GO" app in the next few months. Those who are interested may sign the petition to make the magical AR game a reality.
