'Fantastic Beasts' Latest News: David Yates to direct, JK Rowling to script write all sequels

Veteran "Harry Potter" director David Yates has revealed that he plans to direct all "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" sequels in the future. It was also revealed that author JK Rowling will be the one to write the scripts as well.

David Yates to Direct All "Fantastic Beasts" Sequels?

In an interview with Collider, it was revealed that the "Harry Potter" spinoff movie, "Fantastic Beasts", will have five movies spaced out in over eight years. Yates has declared that he plans to direct all future installments but said that he might let someone else take over if need be. Yates added that he is committed to the franchise as he has become "territorial" over it as he did with "Harry Potter."

Prior to directing "Fantastic Beasts," Yates has directed the final four movies of the "Harry Potter" franchise including, "The Order of the Phoenix," "The Half-Blood Prince," and "Deathly Hallows" Parts 1 and 2.

It was reported that Yates is under contract to direct the sequel of the upcoming "Fantastic Beasts" movie but there was no word if he has committed to the other three installments. The "Harry Potter" director has commented that he'll take the franchise one movie at a time and not in its entirety.

JK Rowling to Pen All "Fantastic Beasts" Scripts

GameSpot reports that "Harry Potter" author JK Rowling will personally pen all the scripts for all future sequels of "Fantastic Beasts. The sequel which has been greenlighted and hyped is reported to have a Parisian setting with Johnny Depp playing the role of dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. "Fantastic Beasts" is Rowling's first screenplay.

"Fantastic Beasts" is set to be released on November 18, Friday in the US. It stars Eddie Redmayne as magizoologist Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterston as Porpentina Goldstein, Colin Farrell as Percival Graves, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski and Ezra Miller as Credence.
