As Reuter points out, "Despite being swept by the Rays in Tampa Bay to close out last week, the A's remain one of baseball's top teams thanks to the AL's highest-scoring offense. They've scored 100 runs through 19 games, and newcomer Jed Lowrie (.382 BA, 14 RBI, 1.094 OPS) is off to a great start. The fact that Yoenis Cespedes (.200 BA, .748 OPS) has struggled gives reason to believe the offense could be even better moving forward. Starters Brett Anderson (1-3, 5.95 ERA) and Jarrod Parker (0-3, 7.50 ERA) have both had difficulties, but the pitching staff as a whole remains solid with a 3.84 ERA. Setup man Ryan Cook (9 G, 0.87 ERA, 9.6 K/9) is quickly becoming one of the best in the business.

After playing the Mariners, Astros (twice), Angels, Tigers, and Rays, the A's head into Tuesday evening's game with a 12-8 winning record.

The Red Sox snag the no 7 overall spot (out of 30 teams). According to Reuter, "The Red Sox have been a pleasant surprise here in the early going, as their new-look roster has come together quickly and their pitching staff in particular has been far better than expected. Their 2.83 ERA as a staff ranks third in the MLB, and the one-two punch of Clay Buchholz (4-0, 0.90 ERA) and Jon Lester (3-0, 1.73 ERA) has been lethal atop the rotation. Top prospect Allen Webster made his debut on Sunday, going six innings and allowing five hits and two runs, as he could be the answer at the bottom of the rotation. The team welcomed back David Ortiz over the weekend, and he went 5-for-8 to kick off his 2013 season. The offense has been solid, but getting guys like Stephen Drew (.100 BA, .339 OPS), Will Middlebrooks (.176 BA, .591 OPS) and Jonny Gomes (.172 BA, .610 OPS) going will be important.

After playing the Yankees, Blue Jays, Orioles, Rays, Indians, and Royals, the Sox snag a 13-6 winning record.

Following the devastating Boston Marathon bombing explosion on Monday, April 15, a heated manhunt for the suspects pursued on Friday, resulting in the death of 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev and the arrest of 19-year-old Dzhokar Tsarnaev. #ForBoston and #BostonStrong quickly began trending on social media/networking in honor of the BPD, FBI, and all victims and heroes involved. During an emotional game on Saturday, Boston proved victorious against the Royals with a score of 4-3.

Tuesday evening's ballgame should prove a great competition between two of the league's top teams.
