"Star Wars" actress Carrie Fisher died on December 27, Tuesday at UCLA Hospital. She was battling with her life after suffering from a massive heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles.

Fisher was well-known for her role in the first "Star Wars" trilogy and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" as Princess Leia Organa. According to a post published by Comicbook, her role in "Star Wars Episode 8" was a major and important one.

"Star Wars Episode 8" concluded its filming earlier in 2016 and all of Fisher's role has already been shot. Fisher was supposed to appear in "Star Wars Episode 9" as well, which is scheduled to be released in 2019.

However, Fisher's tragic death is bound to affect the upcoming "Star Wars" sequels and their filming. While Fisher was rumored to play a larger role in "Star Wars Episode 8," the role of her character in the next sequel is not yet known.

The publication reports that Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd Fisher also played certain part during the filming of the next sequel. Since Lucasfilms has not yet commented on the movie, it is not clear whether they will be making any changes in Fisher's part already shot so far.

According to Deadline, "Star Wars Episode 9" will not be starting its shooting for about next 10 to 12 months. While it will be hard for Fisher's fans to ever come out of the shock of her tragic death, they will also be waiting for Lucasfilms' decision about Princess Leia's replacement for the upcoming films.

Apart from "Star Wars Episode 8," Fisher recently completed production on Amazon's "Catastrophe" Season 3, which is a comedy series. She also appeared in a documentary with her mother Debbie Reynolds, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier in 2016.
