ASU Student Killed: Rebecca 'Becky' Kasper Murdered By Boyfriend With A Dumbbell, Luis Soltero Leaves Haunting Letter At Scene

An Arizona State University student, Rebecca 'Becky' Kasper was beaten to death by her 22-year-old boyfriend, Luis Soltero. with a dumbbell in their off-campus apartment. According to court documents Soltero left a note next to the murder weapon admitting to the killing his girlfriend and leaving her decomposing body in the bathtub.

An ASU spokesperson released a statement regarding the murder of the junior marketing major, "ASU extends its sincere condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time," the statement continued, "Counseling services for those who knew Kasper are being made available to the university community."

According to the 19-year-old's father Dan Kasper who spoke during a press conference Wednesday said,  

"This is like lightning out of the clear blue sky, we had no idea that this was coming," he said an Arizona CBS affiliate.

According to according to the Phoneix News Times, the suspect was reported to have entered a Tempe Police Department around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday and handed over his girlfriend's ID card and Kasper's Minnesota driver's license and told police,  "My girlfriend is there and she is dead, and I am not going to tell you anything more without an attorney."

Soltero then admitted t o police that he spent 12 hours in his car with the engine running and felt dizzy and later was hospitalized.

When police discovered the teenagers body, she was covered in blankets and a yoga mat, with coffee grounds and baking soda sprinkled on top with her wrapped in a plastic bag with brutal head trauma which left her "unrecognizable."

Police found a note between the bathroom door which read, "I did not treat her right. She deserved better but never accepted it. So I had to make the choice for her." The letter continued, "She died on 420 not because of drugs, but because a sociopath talked and treated her nice...I don't know where to go from here. Do I kill again, end it with myself or become invisible."

Soltero was charged with first-degree premeditated murder and is held on $1million bond.
