Iconic actress Debbie Reynolds, mother of Carrie Fisher who died on Wednesday, dies one day after her daughter does. The news was confirmed by Debbie's son Todd Fisher.

Reynolds, 84, died reportedly due to heart failure. Todd said the stress after his sister's death was too much for Debbie and have taken a heavy toll on her. It is also believed that she had been at her son's home discussing about the funeral plans of Carrie and by that time a call was made to the ambulance to take a close look at Debbie.

In her life, Debbie enjoyed the heights of show business success and was at the end of few personal tragedies and betrayal. She lost her one husband to Elizabeth Taylor and two others ravaged her for millions.

In her screenplay career, Debbie was one of the superstars in her early life. After doing two minor roles for the Warner Bros., she did three supporting roles at MGM, she was casted by studio boss Louis B. Mayer in Singin' in the rain. She was 19 that time and had little experience of dancing, and she was supposed to be appearing with two great dancers,  Donald O'Connor and Kelly.

Reynolds' only Academy Award Nomination due to her work in The 1964 Meredith Willson musical. She also received a Tony nomination in 1973 when she starred at Broadway in the revival of irene.

Debbie married Eddie Fisher in 1955, pop singer whose fan base were equally as good as his wife's. The couple then made a movie together named Bundle of Joy which seemed a mirror image of Carrie's birth in 1956. The couple also had son, named Todd, named for Eddie's close friend and Taylor's husband, Mike Todd.

But, Mike Todd died in 1958 and Eddie soon announced that he is leaving Debbie to marry Taylor. Reynolds lost her mind a bit and won tonnes of sympathy related to this.

In 1960, she married Harry Karl, marriage ended in a disaster as Debbie got to know that compulsive Gambler Karl had devastated her assets and left her in deep debt. She divorced in the year 1973.

Reynolds' third marriage was with Virginia businessman Richard Hamlett in 1984, which too ended in a disaster. In 1992, against all odds she paid $10 million to buy and convert a jaded Paddlewheel Hotel in Las Vegas into the Debbie Reynolds Hotel and Casino.

Debbie ended up filing Bankruptcy in 1997 and selling the property in auction in 1998. She accused Hamlett of making off money from her. She eventually got divorced with him too. An emotionally tired Reynolds said all of her husbands 'robbed her blind.'

She and Eddie Fisher are back together in the HBO documentary Bright Lights, which is due to release sometime in next year.
