Is Ben Affleck going to direct DC's first Batman solo movie? Not likely if the actor/director who plays the latest iteration of the Dark Knight doesn't think the script is at par with Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy or Tim Burton's Batman movies.

Affleck, whose directing credits include critically acclaimed films like The Town, Argo and Gone Baby Gone is reportedly being eyed to helm his very own solo Batman movie after it was reported that Warner Bros. was pushing back the release of the ensemble superhero movie Justice league in favor of focusing on the Affleck starrer.

According to the actor/director, nothing is set in stone as of yet but he won't commit to directing the movie if it doesn't meet his standards. "That's the idea. But it's not a set thing and there's no script. If it doesn't come together in a way I think is really great, I'm not going to do it," he said in a report by The Guardian.

In a Facebook Live chat, he said he didn't want to rush the process of developing the script which he is also involved in just to come up with a mediocre movie that met the target date but not the standards that the franchise's predecessors have set. He also admitted that his involvement in developing the script doesn't guarantee that it will be great.

"I'm a real believer in not doing, not reverse engineering projects to meet a window or a date, but rather like when you get the right story or you get the right idea or you get the right thing, then you make the movie. And so that's what we're doing, and I'm hoping to get that done and spending a lot of time on that, but I'm also working on other stuff. And if I could, if I can find it right then there's nothing I'd love more than to direct a standalone, you know, iconic great Batman movie."

IMDB has currently listed the Batman standalone movie tentatively entitled "The Batman" under Affleck's bio under director and actor but no target release date has been set.
