Samsung has ended its Android Nougat Beta program with the ending year, mentioning in its Beta notices that the official version will be released in January 2017. The program was started in November, under which customers could participate by simply downloading the Galaxy Beta app from the Galaxy app store.

Tech giant has finally confirmed when Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owners can download Android 7.1.1 Nougat and upgrade their devices.

Samsung has kept pushing out updates for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge from November to December and for now as that the official update is ready; the company has started putting out the associated paperwork in the form of user manuals.

According to the information retrieved from the manuals, following are the six expected features of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Nougat update:

  1. New TouchWiz UI: The manuals say on what the TouchWiz will look like. Instead of the green color that was dominant in the previous Android version, the new interface is a mix of blue and white. The new TouchWiz seems to be inspired from Stock Android as it has flat icons and a flat notification interface. The support documents in the TouchWiz include some screenshots that show how the update will look like. The interface has also got even more flat. These factors seem to indicate that Samsung's Android Nougat update closely resembles the stock experience
  1. New Camera App:  The camera app also has been refurbished. Samsung's current camera app looks a little cluttered and difficult to access. In comparison, the new app is more polished with simple, easy-to-access icons. With new app you can now lock focus at one point in the image and then adjust focus of a different part of the same image.
  2. New Lock Screen: Samsung has imported the new S7 lock screen from the now defunct Note 7. The new lock screen will not only have notifications, but will also let users access some apps without going into the main menu.
  3. Blue Light Filter: The upcoming update will add a Google Pixel-style blue light filter to the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. This feature reduces the strain on your eyes by limiting the amount of blue light emitted by the display.
  4. Expanded Multi-window: The multi-window functionality will be stretched to multiple apps instead of the selective apps available in the current software version.
  5. New Battery Modes: Samsung will now offer new battery modes to consumers with the Android Nougat update. With this the users will be able to choose from four modes that are, Normal, Game Mode, Entertainment Mode and High Performance.
